Gyarados

Here's another one of those Mega-Construx Pokemon kits, this one obviously being Gyarados. He's pretty cool and also pretty pose-able. This makes for a pretty faithful representation, much better than the Squirtle and Charmander (not that I hold it against them, it's tough to make them accurate in that size). I especially like the "whisker" parts on this kit.

MG Zaku II Ver. 2.0 Johnny Ridden Custom

For some completely unknown reason, I've always liked Johnny Ridden, even though I've never read a manga which includes him nor played a game which includes him in a meaningful way. So really, I like his mobile suits and I like his name. He was originally known as "Red Blitz" but his nickname was retconned to "Crimson Lightning." As for this mobile suit, it still has his old "RB" emblem on it. I actually once had a project to re-write the UC gundam series for a Western audience, expanding the story of the One Year War to include several fronts and teams on both sides, including a team of Zeon aces led by Ridden. Maybe some day I'll pick that project back up.

As for this kit, it's a high-mobility type Zaku. It's my first Zaku 2.0 and it really is a great kit. The particulars I'll leave aside because there are enough real reviews of this type of kit on the internet. Let's just say this kit is good enough to leave me wanting more Zakus for my collection.

Punisher

So Punisher just recently released on Netflix, and after Iron Fist sucked and Defenders kind of underwhelmed, it was refreshing to have a great series come out again. Punisher managed to satisfy on every plotline it had, and Jon Bernthal managed to be entertaining for a whole season (I feared his schtick would get old pretty quick when he was the only character).

As for the figure, it's a good likeness, which I can say for this whole run of Netflix characters. It seems to take Hasbro a few tries for a lot of the MCU characters, but they got these right on the first try. I like his guns, it's  nice when they give realistic molds instead of some shitty fantasy/sci-fi weapons (looking at you, Winter Soldier).

MG Gundam X

So here's another one that I picked up on a whim. It is pretty cool, I like the solar panels for the cannon, they look pretty great. On mine, the shield buster rifle has a break in the "scope" part, which prevents me from transforming it in any meaningful way. It's got an interesting array for the chest vulcans and lot's of cool, multi-color clear pieces arranged around the body.

I have not seen After War Gundam X, but I do plan on diving into it soon. The animation stills that I have seen look pretty cool, I just wish that this series had come to the West. I always prefer dubs over subs, because I like to be able to divide my attention rather than have to read along.

75139 Battle on Takodana

This set is a decent kit for a mid-range Lego set. I wasn't sure I was going to get it, but when it went on clearance at my store I bit the bullet. I wanted Kylo Ren and to a lesser extent the unique Maz Kanata figure. It's not a great representation of the castle as seen in The Force Awakens, but a fair attempt for a Lego set. The only real issue I have with the set is the falling tree. It is basically just a pillar, and I know Lego can do better when it comes to building trees.

MG Banshee Norn

I really love the Banshee Norn, especially in "Unicorn Mode." The kit looks great, but falls to all the same issues as the regular Unicorn (which I will someday post). The transformation is very finnicky, and in the process of transforming I broke one of the horns on the head. Hopefully I'll be able to glue it back together in a way that will hold together long term.

Hulk

Obviously, it took a lot of work to assemble this build a figure of gladiator Hulk. But, even though it cost $120 worth of figures, the whole line up is a good enough quality that I felt pretty good about it. The only drawback to this figure is that the hammer (not pictured) is too heavy to maintain it's proper shape. It droops. But that's okay, the Hulk looks good enough as he is. He has a definite presence and the armor looks very detailed and interesting, keeping to a very realistic gladiator theme.
