HGUC Hy-gogg

The Hy-gogg is one of the cooler Zeon marine type mobile suits. I happened to get it cheap and after seeing a few pretty cool custom jobs made out of this kit, decided I wanted one for myself. As old as it is, it holds up pretty well against some of the newer HGUC kits. I personally like the look of mounting the containers for the claws underneath the shoulders, as seen in my photos, and to my surprise, they seem to be made to do that. I thought that the kits I had seen like that before had been modified. The mono-eye is very difficult to see, however, so I'm thinking I might try and put an led in this kit some day.

Drax

Drax was perhaps the most pleasantly surprising character in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, as I don't know if anyone had much confidence in a wrestler/body-builder playing the role. He did a fantastic job in playing the ultra-literal alien. The figure is nicely sculpted and well articulated, with all of Drax's tattoos actually sculpted onto his body and not just painted. He also comes with his two long-knives which fit neatly into sheathes on his boots.

The one weird thing is something that occurs with a lot of figures, is that his neck kind of hunches forward instead of just going strait up and down, which causes him to look like he's leaning his head out in front of his chest. I don't know why this happens, but it happens a lot.

7658 Y-Wing Fighter

The Y-Wing is one of the classic, iconic ships of Star Wars. I picked this particular one up as a used kit. I didn't get any figures, and I'm short on the parts to build the proper canopy-mounted cannon. What I do like about this kit is it's surface detail on the fuselage, they really made a good use of parts to give the ship a really textured look. It's also a pretty hefty ship, better than my previously posted ARC-170 fighter or my upcoming (at some point) TIE Defender.

HGUC Palace Athene

This is one of my all-time favorite mobile suits. The design is so out-there and unique, and it's so imposing, that even though it wasn't on screen much in Z Gundam, it was quite a memorable suit. Plus, it's named after Pallas Athena, the classical Greek goddess, so there's that. This is the mobile suit designed by Paptimus Scirocco and piloted by Reccoa Londe that killed Emma Sheen and incapacitated the Gundam Mk. II.

9497 Republic Striker-Class Starfighter

This is a fighter from the video game The Old Republic, and as such it isn't really a well known ship. But it looked pretty cool, with it's cariable wings and some cool figures. The first figure is Jedi master Satele Shan. The figure doesn't look much like the character from the game, but it is still a cool figure. I can deal with the poor likeness.

The second figure is Jace Malcolm, and this figure does a much better job of looking like the character.

The third is the astromech droid T7-O1, and this is definitely my favorite astromech in my collection.

75041 Vulture Droid

To help supplement my "evil" starships, I picked up this vulture droid. It's pretty cool, although it relies more on stickers than probably any other starfighter I have. It has a Buzz Droid, which I always thought was kind of a lame invention of the Star Wars universe. It also includes a blue Pilot Battle Droid and a Nemoidian Guard, which is a pretty cool minifigure. The vulture droid "transforms" into walking mode as well.

Hawkgirl

I don't know why, but even though Hawkgirl was just a sidekick throughout most of my childhood, I always found her to be a cooler character than Hawkman. Maybe it stemmed from her involvement in the Justice League cartoon from the early 2000s, but I didn't really watch that as a kid. When she became a character on Legends of Tomorrow, I was pretty excited. Unfortunately, it seems her character was wasted and has since exited the show. The costume design was done well enough, and the figure will work well with the rest of the Arrowverse and DCEU figures. She's not very articulated (like many of the rest of the DC figures), but she looks pretty great.
