Marvel Legends -- Rogue

I was so excited when I first saw the current line up of Marvel Legends X-Men. I never had a chance at any of the older figures in the line, because I started collecting too late. Luckily, the current line of X-Men really represents the versions of each character I remember and enjoy so much.

MG Super Gundam

The Super Gundam was the combination of the Gundam Mk II and the G-Defenser from Gundam Z. It was an attempt to help the Gundam Mk II compensate for the increasing mobility of the Titans newer mobile suits. This kit is the original Mk II ver. 1.0 combined with the "new" G-Defenser (I say "new" because it was from 1998 and it definitely shows its age). Also, I painted the eyes of this kit and didn't realize just how good it looked until these photos, so I might have to start doing that again.

Ah Tabai

I hadn't expected to pick up Ah Tabai, until it showed up at my store on clearance. So I scooped it up. He's kind of a cool figure, but is not exactly a prominent or interesting character from Black Flag.

MG Heavyarms Gundam (Ver. Endless Waltz)

I was able to get this model as a Christmas gift from a friend last year, and ended up being really, really impressed. In the show, the Heavyarms was my least favorite of the gundams, but the model's pretty great. My favorite detail: the blue stripes on the chest are actually molded in blue plastic rather than just using stickers. I did use a little paint on the chest gatlings and the missile pods, just to provide a small amount of color differentiation.

Catwoman

When I initially saw Catwoman in Rocksteady's version of Catwoman in Arkham City, I wasn't particularly impressed. I grew up with the Batman the Animated Series cartoon version of Catwoman, then moved on to the Dark Knight Rises version, which is very toned-down. This version sits close to the latter of those two points on the spectrum, but still finds a balance. I've grown to love this particular iteration of the character (as is true with basically the entire Arkham series of characters). This figure represents Catwoman from her Arkham Knight appearance, and I was initially drawn to it because of the paint work on the face. She looks fantastic.

HGUC Kshatriya

The Kshatriya has quickly become one of my favorite all-time mobile suit. I rank it near the top with the Sazabi and others. This kit, while an HG scale kit, is larger than many of my MG kits, and really does a pretty great job of capturing the menacing look of the original design. I decided to go with gold trim on the sleeves emblems instead of white because I wanted this beast to look like it might be on even footing with the Sinanju.

Marvel Legends -- Iron Fist

I'll be honest, I got this figure just for the BAF part. I do like the white version of the Iron Fist costume better than the green version. I'm hoping that the upcoming Netflix Iron Fist series will cause me to like the character more. The figure does come with multiple alternate hands, which I did not change out for pictures.

I got a new CD today

I don't always post when I get new music, but I will this time, as it's the first I've gotten from this band. They are called I Prevail. We've been playing one of their singles at my workplace, so I grabbed the album. Here's a video:

MG Guncannon

This is an old kit, but it looks surprisingly great. I particularly love the details of the inner frame pieces under the knee armor. The kit also comes with spray missile pods to use in place of the namesake cannons. The kit also includes a transformable core fighter and spare core block. It really captures the look of the original anime, which can be difficult to do in model form. It wasn't in any way a spectacular build or particularly exciting, but it's a kit that holds its own even after almost 20 years without an upgrade.

Batgirl

I'm looking to replace this batgirl. I love the look, the mold is great and the paint is pretty great too. Good detail, etc. But, there's not a great amount of articulation, and the figure has a hard time standing. She has to stoop forward quite a bit in order to stay upright, and the position her arms are stuck in doesn't look very natural.

HG Geara Zulu (Angelo Sauper Use)

This is one of the pinkest kits I've ever ordered, and by god I love it. The pink/magenta really pops and all of the white details (hand painted by moi before I learned the reverse wash) really add a great deal to the look of the kit (I also added the splashes of red to the feet and arms). Angelo Sauper himself went from an irritating character in his first appearance in Unicorn Gundam, to a really interesting and badass character, to going back to a strange, irritating character by the end.

I have to admit, HG scale kits have come a long way since I first started my gunpla hobby back in the mid-90s and early 00s. The recent Unicorn and Origin variations of these mobile suits have been especially great kits.
