Marvel Legends -- Iron Man Mk 46

The final post of my October streak belongs to the initial hero of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (sorry, Hulk doesn't count). Iron Man. Specifically, the Mk 46 version of Iron Man as seen in Captain America: Civil War. The figure is pretty nice overall, but it does suffer from a little lack of detail in places. I would rather see a little more effort put into creating a look of armor plates rather than the grooves that get cut into the forearms and legs. The color, however, is great and the palm blasts are a fun addition to a figure that would often not get much as far as accessories.

Marvel Legends -- Odin the Allfather

Odin/King Thor was a Build-A-Figure character who came in parts packed across a wave of figures. Overall, he came with Thor, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, Iron Fist, Sentry, and Machine Man. I did not get Machine Man, so I don't have the alternate armored arms, but I do have both heads and capes. And he is honestly the only reason I have Iron Fist, Sentry, and Hawkeye (I do like Sentry, but he's kind of a boring figure). I hadn't really had much hope for the concept of Build-a-Figure, but this guy is pretty badass. I love the sculpt, the paint application, and the amount of articulation.

Black Canary (Sara Lance)

I bought this figure between seasons of Arrow, and therefore thought erroneously at first that this was Laurel Lance. Instead, it is Sarah Lance, who has the far superior version of the Black Canary costume. Either way it is a nice figure with a modern, realistic take on a classic character. I particularly like the details of the lacing on the corset and pants. She includes not only her signature staff, but a small canary screech device.

MG Dom

When I first went out to my local hobby store and saw this kit sitting on the shelf, I got so excited. It's not often they carry a master grade Zeon suit, and it's certainly not often that they carry a kit that's nearly twenty years old. I didn't even have to browse that day.
The MS-09 Dom was released in June 1999 and definitely lacks the intricate inner frames of modern kits, but this model is surprisingly pretty good. It looks great, and I'm not usually one to enjoy the looks of the Dom. It's very stable, and most importantly, it can properly hold its bazooka, which is saying a lot for a 20th century kit. Purple seems a tough color for Bandai to get right, but the purple on this kit looks great. Also, not that I'm starting to improve my painting skill, I can see this kit being pretty rife for customization options. One of my favorite small details is the small gap in the front of the skirt armor and they way it helps keep the armor in place.

MG Hyaku-Shiki ver. 2.0

This kit became something of a running joke between my friends and I. I had been saying for years "maybe I'll pick up the Hyaku-Shiki this time" and always seemed to walk out with something different. Eventually, they came out with this ver 2.0, and even then, it took about two years for me to finally grab it. My friends always asked me why, and it's pretty simple. That gold costs money. It's no bigger a kit than a typical $40-50 kit, but you won't find it for less than $60-70 just based on that gold sheen. So when considering the build for my buck, I couldn't really justify it. But now that I have, I'm glad I did.
It is a unique looking suit, and that gold finish really helps it pop off the shelf. I also love that so much of the inner mechanics of the leg are exposed around the ankle/shin area.

Marvel Legends -- Thor

Thor was the first Marvel figure I picked up. Basically, he was cool enough on the shelf to spark an entirely new hobby for me. As much as I like the Hemsworth Thor of the MCU, I really love this hulking, brutish version of the character. There isn't much to say about the figure, just take a look at the pictures.

Azrael

The first time I encountered Azrael was in the game Arkham City. I immediately loved the character, even though his missions kind of sucked. I love the idea of an order of holy knights training new agents to send out into the world. He just looks like a badass. The figure also looks pretty badass, with the armor doing a nice job of disguising the joints. The cape is made out of flexible rubber, which means it doesn't effect his posability. And he's got a pretty decent amount of articulation for a bulky figure. I feel like he can take on more poses than the Batman figure that I have.

MG Sazabi ver. Ka

One of the earliest posts I made on this blog was the work in progress of my Sazabi ver. Ka. It has been a while in the making, but finally I've actually gotten around to posting the finished product. The MSN-04 Sazabi was the personal mobile suit of Char Aznable for his final battle against Amuro Ray and the Nu-Gundam as seen in Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack. It's the biggest bad and one of the most iconic suits of probably the most iconic Gundam character. After all, every other Gundam series includes their own version of the Char character, often getting suits reminiscent of the Sazabi.
The Sazabi comes armed with a large variety of weapons (many I left out of this photo shoot): beam sabers, funnels, mega particle cannons, the beam-shot rifle (shotgun), the long beam rifle, shield and dual beam tomahawks. The suit naturally comes complete with a psycommu system to allow newtypes to control the funnels and the suit with the use of psychic waves.
This is the first time I've ever applied water-slide decals. I always found them to be intimidating, because I remember as a child my father being pretty impatient with them. I find them to actually be much easier than I anticipated, and of course, they look great. Eventually, I would like to get another Sazabi once I get an airbrush and become proficient with it. I also wouldn't mind creating a "Sleeves" version of the Sazabi as well.
