Ankaa Releases

One of my favorite bands is a French metal band named Eths. They've released their highly anticipated (by me, at least) new album, Ankaa. Admittedly, I've been pretty busy lately, so I haven't listened to it as closely as I'd have liked to yet. It doesn't seem to hold up to the level of their previous release, III, but it's pretty good so far. It's their first album with new singer Rachel Aspe, who became internet famous after her 2012 France Has Got Talent audition went viral.

In fact, 2012 saw the beginning of a bit of an exodus for the band, as original vocalist Candice Clot announced her retirement, followed soon after by supporting guitarist Greg Rouviere. In 2015, original drummer Yom Dupre left the band, leaving me to wonder if the band could recover.

Well, the new album, while at this point doesn't seem as good as the previous, is still strong enough to keep me confident that Rachel can fill the considerable shoes left by Candice, and that guitarist Staif Bihl still leads the band in the same direction as I last found them.
